The Forum was the meeting place for Romans, the center of political, religious, business, and social life. Built up over many years on an ancient site, the Forum Romanum is the oldest and most important forum. At its peak during the days of the Republic and the Empire, the Forum held the main public buildings, temples, basilicas, shops, colonnades, triumphal arches, pillars and statues.

There are many magnificent sights to see in Rome, but here are a few that you don't want to miss: the Colosseum is one of the most popular sights; the Pantheon is one of the finest preserved ancient buildings in Rome. It contains the tombs of Raphael and Italy's ancient kings; Vatican City is the world's second smallest city (less than 1 square mile) and governed by the Pope. General audiences are held every Wednesday at 11 am. at St. Peter's Square.

St. Peter's Basilica is absolutely amazing; Michelangelo's great dome towers over Rome, which houses his Pieta. The Vatican Museums are not to be missed either. They are one of the great art collections in the world and they include Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. Gazing up at the beautiful ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is a humbling experience, which will be truly unforgettable and definitely one of the highlights of Rome!
