Florence has many attractions for travellers to view, but one of the most popular is Michelangelo's 'David.'  This is a replica of the original, located at the Piazza Michelangelo.   Piazza Michelangelo is on a hill on the south bank of the Arno River, just east of the center of Florence.  Designed in 1869 by Poggi, it offers a great view of the city, and is a very popular tourist destination.  From here you will be able to have one of the best views of the city!  It is definitely worth the trip, especially since you will have a much better understanding of how Florence is laid out.
The Cathedral of Florence, commonly known as the Duomo, has symbolized Italy's Tuscany region for 700 years. Construction started in the very early Renaissance, this marvel remains a vital point of reference in architecture.  The cathedral represents the fruit of several centuries of labor.  In the basement lie the ruins of the ancient Santa Reparata Cathedral which was an active church for 900 years before its demolition at the end of the Middle Ages.

This is a view similar to what you can see from the Pizzale Michelangelo.  You can clearly see the Duomo and many other popular sites from this perspective.  For those who enjoy architecture, Florence is a wonderful place to spend some time.

Built in ancient times by the Etruscans, originally the bridge was built to allow access over the Arno River. The Ponte Vecchio is the only of Florence's bridges to have survived WWII, and in 1966, when a massive flood wiped out the shops on the bridge, the bridge itself was strong enough to withstand the roaring waters.  The Ponte Vecchio embodies the progress of humanity because it has come from carrying soldiers to battle, to open commerce, to a vast gathering place for peoples from all walks of life.
