Mexico City has twenty millions habitants and, despite of the city's size, many attractive areas can be toured on foot, affording pleasant and rewarding moments: colorful markets emerge from the gray urban backdrop, and ethereal monuments and stately mansions loom above street corner taco stands and dirty streets. Be prepared for a city that has brought together native Indian hustle and bustle and European nostalgia, garnished with highly spiced local dishes, mariachis, and a pulsating tropical beat.
    Oaxaca, Mexico
Oaxaca State is located in the south-east portion of Mexico. It is bounded in the north by Veracruz and Puebla, in the east by Chiapas, in the west by Guerrero and in the south by the Pacific Ocean. Oaxaca, the State Capital, declared Humanity’s Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO, owes its fame to the beauty and harmony of its architecture, the richness of its cultural traditions, the wide variety of its typical foods, and its soft temperate climate, spring-like throughout the year.

The surrounding jungle growth and its bird life are sure to be as fascinating as the ruins.

Being centrally located, Merida is a practical hub to explore all of the splendors of the Yucatan Peninsula. Merida depicts much of the splendor of Colonial Mexico. The Spanish Conquistador Francisco de Montejo founded Merida in 1542 on the site of a former Mayan city he destroyed. Cut off from the rest of Mexico for many years because of the difficulty in communicating by train and highway, the Yucatecans became somewhat independent, having more contact with European and US Gulf Coast cities and life-styles. Splendid regional dishes and traditional music and dances local to this region are found in restaurants, theatres and shops housed in palatial mansions along Paseo de Montejo - a boulevard fashioned after Paris' Champs Elysée.
